"Ignoble
Peace"
Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, offered
the Hamilton Club in Chicago some words of wisdom. I'm
not sure if I agree, but it gave me pause for thought; that is
why I'm posting it.

This
was passed on to me and it made me stop and think about this last
week rather than react. If you're going to read only one

The
War Prayer, by Mark Twain
A
timeless classic published in 1923 - after his death.
Clemens
(Mark Twain) read the "War Prayer" to Dan Beard, stating
that he had read it to his daughter Jean, and others, who had
told him he must not print it, for it would be regarded as sacrilege.
"Still, you are going to publish it, are you not?"
Clemens, pacing up and down the room in his dressing-gown and
slippers, shook his head.
"No," he said, "I have told the whole truth in
that, and only dead men can tell the truth in this world.
"It can be published after I am dead"
